Privacy notices

Ecosia has a high privacy standard. We want to plant trees and not to collect your data. You can find more information about how we use data in our general privacy statement. In order to provide our services we use different software.

Airtable for online forms

We use the “Airtable” platform to gather contact information and streamline internal workflows.

Airtable helps us to keep in touch with people that have expressed a legitimate interest in receiving follow up communications from us. Data stored is GDPR compliant and is not shared with third parties. If you have completed an Airtable form and wish for your details to be deleted, please send a message to stating: "Request to be removed from Airtable".

Help Scout for user support

We use “Help Scout” to maintain our user support activities, which include the Ecosia help center, product feedback and enquiries which are submitted to us via email and our contact form. Help Scout and is a fellow B-Corp and committed social business. 

For each enquiry, Help Scout receives the question itself, our answer, the email address we sent it to and the IP address for spam protection purposes. Collected email and IP addresses are deleted after 6 Months.

Ashby for job applications

We use “Ashby” to administer our job application process. 

All data which you have provided for your job application (name, email address, phone number, photo, CV, cover letter, etc.) as well as the associated communication between you and Ecosia are saved during the job application process.If you do not confirm your registration email within 24 hours (automatic deletion within six months) as part of the legally required double opt-in procedure, this data gets deleted.

You can withdraw your application, you may do so at any time using using the link provided in the confirmation email. In this case, your data is locked and deleted automatically within six months. In any case your data will be deleted maximum 6 months after the end of the application process.

SendInBlue for email newsletters

For our email services we use “SendInBlue”. It is a European tech company, based in France and committed to privacy. 

In order to comply with existing regulation and to prevent spam we use a “double opt-in” procedure for registration to our newsletter. This means that, after registering, you receive an email to your email address, in which you are asked to confirm that you want to receive the newsletter. If you do not confirm your registration within 24 hours, your information (email and IP address) are deleted automatically after one month. We also count how often users open our newsletter and whether they use our links to content like videos on Youtube.  

We share neither your email nor your IP address with anyone else but SendInBlue. The IP address is generally deleted after 7 days, the email address after the end of your subscription. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. This can be carried out using the link provided in each newsletter.

Typeform for user surveys

We use the “Typeform” platform to carry out our surveys. 

Surveys help us to improve Ecosia’s products and activities by gathering user input and feedback. The collected information consists of your responses and your IP address (for spam protection purposes). It will be aggregated and anonymized within 3 months.
