How do I block ads on mobile?

The Ecosia app has a built-in ad blocking feature that blocks intrusive ads while you browse the web. This creates a safe and faster browsing experience on both iOS & Android. Only intrusive and annoying ads are blocked, which means that you’ll only see acceptable non-intrusive ads that help us plant trees.

The Ecosia app’s built-in ad blocker is automatically set to on. If you wish to turn this feature off and enable ads, follow the steps:

Android

  1. Go to the Settings
  2. Select Ad blocking
  3. You will see options to disable/enable Adblocking Plus, Acceptable Ads and Update on Wi-Fi only

iOS

  1. Go to the Settings
  2. Select Tracking Protection
  3. You will see the option to disable/enable Enhanced Tracking Protection

Do I support Ecosia by randomly clicking on ads?

We appreciate your wish to help us, but please don't do this. You should only click on search ads that you may be genuinely interested in. There are algorithms in place to detect fake clicks, so just go ahead and use Ecosia like any other search engine.

Don’t be concerned if you rarely click on ads, simply by being an Ecosia user you’re adding to the size of our user base and turning an everyday action into something positive. The more people collectively that use Ecosia means we have a wider reach and ultimately can plant more trees.
